MISSIONS

turning point.jfif

The Chicken & Dumpling meals are at the heart of many of the missions that are supported through Walkersville EPC in Union County and around the world.  There are four each year, two in the Fall and two in the Spring.  The money that is raised goes toward:

Samaritans International of Waxhaw (feedingnicas.org)

     -feeding programs

-Christian College of Pochocuape, educating children from preschool age through high school

-teaching the truth of Jesus Christ

-Members of the church make occasional trips to Nicaragua to visit this ministry.

HELP Pregnancy Center

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. Before you were born I set you apart." (Jeremiah 1:5)

-The center provides limited ultrasounds at both the Center and in their Mobile Ultrasound Unit. If

a woman wants to be seen to find out if they're pregnant or not, planned or unplanned, help is

available.  The center also provides parenting, pregnancy, lactation, and Bible study classes.

The Shepherd's Place, Children's Home & Academy

“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and

widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” (James 1:27)

-The Shepherd’s Place Children’s Home and Academy is available for school-age children who are in

       need of care.

-A loving environment is provided in which the children can stay and get a quality education to help

equip them for a bright future.

-The theme at The Shepherd’s Place is “There’s a Better Way.”

Turning Point

-Turning Point's vision is that all people will have safe and healthy relationships, free from domestic

abuse, sexual assault , and child abuse in their homes, schools, workplaces, and communities.

*****

In addition to these missions, Christ works through the people of the Walkersville EPC to participate in other local ministries:

Project 2 Heal

-Charlie and Sandy Petrizzo use their awareness of the healing power of animals to serve others.

Their mission is to reduce the cost and time it takes to place a service dog with a person in need.

They, along with their staff, accomplish this by nurturing, socializing and training purposely-bred

Labrador Retriever puppies, for donation, to carefully selected service dog organizations.

-Walkersville EPC has been contributing to this ministry through an annual Fall yard sale held in the

       church's Fellowship Hall.

Operation Reachout of Monroe, NC

-This ministry is focused on honoring God by meeting people where they are in life's circumstances.

-Members of the church provide lunch on the second Wednesday of the month.  This includes

preparing the food along with serving and interacting with the people being served.

Campus Outreach:  Jennifer Corley

-Jennifer is on the front lines of the Kingdom of God as she goes out in the name of Christ to the

students of UNC-Chapel Hill in Raleigh, NC.  Her meetings, Bible Studies, relationships with

college students, and overall evangelism are only possible because of the support of many places

such as Walkersville EPC.  In her updates Jennifer shares how God is using her to bring college

students to Christ in an environment that is often hostile to the working of the Holy Spirit in and

       through her.

Prospect Food and Clothing Ministry

-Donate food that is delivered to the church where the ministry is located.

Toys for Tots

Operation Christmas Child

-As we join Samaritan's Purse for Operation Christmas Child, the amazing journey of a shoebox gift

begins, then results in evangelism, discipleship, and multiplication.
