Our Staff
Pastor Paul W. Rankin
Paul and his wife, Debbie, moved south from western Pennsylvania (yes, Pittsburgh Steeler fans). His experiences in the USAF, as a Social Worker (for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities), and as a Commissioned Lay Pastor led him to Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte and a new calling. He graduated with an MDiv. (Master of Divinity) degree in January, 2018 and, following the Lord’s direction, came to Walkersville EPC in June, 2019. Paul likes to say these are his retirement plans!

He and Debbie live in the church manse. In addition to all of this, Paul’s other interests include bicycle riding (road riding) and coffee. Debbie's calling is teaching and ministry to children. Her hobbies are gardening, bike riding, and reading. They enjoy having their son, David, daughter-in-law, Kayleen, and grandsons, Daniel and Caleb, live near them in Stony Point, NC. Their daughter, Sarah, is a Trail Specialist with the North Dakota State Park and lives in Bismarck, ND.
Sue Thornton
Director of Music
Sue was raised and continues to live in the Walkersville area with her great-granddaughter, Brooklyn. She enjoys having her three adult children and their families in the area. Sue came back to Walkersville in June 2015 to once again be the Music Director.

God gave Sue the gift of music and it is her way to show Christ’s love, by touching people’s hearts through music. She encourages others to express God’s love with music through the choir, special music, and their gifts on piano and organ.
